Police arrest highway attack gang

BANGALORE: The Central Crime Branch staff has arrested nine members of an inter-State gang who had allegedly robbed a realtor of Rs. 30 lakh cash and drove away with his high-end car after attacking him and his driver near Channapatna on Bangalore-Mysore highway on November 12. Commissioner of Police Neelam Achuta Rao told presspersons on Tuesday they had recovered 608 mobile phones, cars, laptops and gold ornaments worth Rs. 1.2 crore and Rs. 30 lakh cash from the gang, which had committed dacoities in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. While one of the arrested is an arts graduate, four are degree dropouts. Four of the accused are at large, the police said.
