Akhil, Anand shine

KOCHI: Junior leg-spinner M.S. Akhil (four for 44) and guest player K. Anand of Chennai, with a half-century, helped host Cordiant-Tripunithura CC defeat Army (Hyderabad) by three wickets and enter the league phase of the 57th Cordiant-Pooja all-India cricket tournament here on Wednesday.

The scores: Army, Hyderabad 143 in 31.3 overs (M.S. Akhil four for 44) lost to Cordiant-Tripunithura 145 for seven in 41.3 overs (K. Anand 51, M.O. Aquib four for 26).
