Plan well for success, says Mulroy

BANGALORE: Australian swimming expert Bernie Mulroy praised the Indian coaches for their positive approach to learn new concepts in training and their dedication.

Mulroy has been conducting an International Olympic Committee (IOC) solidarity clinic at the SAI South Centre here for the last few days and the clinic concludes on November 25.

“I am happy to share my knowledge with the coaches here. The response to the clinic has been tremendous,” Mulroy said.

On the question of raising the Indian coaching-level to a World-class platform, Mulroy said: “it is like building a house brick by brick and it cannot be done overnight. But you have the ability to achieve that provided you plan goals properly and execute them in a systematic manner. Of course, a lot of support from the Association and the Government is needed.” The clinic covers a wide ambit of training, including stroke techniques, under water training and nutrition for swimmers.

About 75 coaches are attending the clinic.

Mulroy praised the infrastructure for swimming in Bangalore.

“The SAI Centre is a good training place and I also had the opportunity to visit the BAC Pool, which is another excellent facility. I am told that there are a lot of deserving talent in the country and I wish them luck,” the Australian said.
