I sent the SMS, says Pravin’s wife

Mumbai: Sarangi, wife of Pravin Mahajan, on Thursday denied that her husband had sent a threatening SMS to his brother Pramod Mahajan and said it was she who had sent it at the behest of her husband, which was subsequently tampered.

“It is not correct to say that I am lying to protect my husband... I sent the SMS... I typed the SMS on my own... I have stated the facts,” she told the court of Additional Sessions judge S. P. Daware.

Pramod Mahajan was allegedly shot at by his brother Pravin on April 22, 2006. He died 12 days later in hospital.

Ms. Sarangi was responding to the prosecution allegation that she was “lying” to protect her husband. According to the prosecution, Pravin had sent a threatening SMS to his brother. — PTI
