‘Oceanus Queen of Malabar’ to be chosen today

Who would be the fairest of them all in Malabar? The answer would be known on Saturday night at the Kadavu Resort in Kozhikode, where the Oceanus Queen of Malabar beauty pageant will be held.

“Seventeen winners of the preliminary round, chosen from about 100 applicants of the Malabar region as well as Thrissur district, will compete at the pageant,” said K.M. Neilkant Thampi, CEO, Inspirations, the Bangalore-based event managem ent company, which is conducting the show. “It is not physical beauty alone we are looking for in the Queen of Malabar. She should have poise and be intelligent.”

The contestants will compete in four rounds — designer wear, casual wear, summer wear and sari wear. Besides the crowns for the top three finishers, there would also be prizes in different categories — best smile, complexion, hair, ramp performance. The event would also feature dance and music pieces.

The winner will qualify for the Queen of Kerala contest to be held in Kochi next February.

Film director Major Ravi and model Natasha Gulnoz are among the judges.
