NEW DELHI: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Friday announced that calls to the United States and Canada would now cost just Rs.1.75 a minute from BSNL and MTNL phones, against Rs.7.20 at present through a new calling card — CallNow — that was launched on Friday. Other destinationsThe rates for other destinations such as France, Russia, the United Kingdom and South East Asia would vary from Rs.3.25 to Rs. 4 a minute, depending on the denomination value of the CallNow cards, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Kuldeep Goyal said at a press conference here. “Higher the denomination, cheaper the call charges. The CallNow card also allows BSNL to BSNL/MTNL and vice versa calls at Re. 1 a minute and to other operators at a maximum of Rs.2 a minute. Tie-up with Indiatimes Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has tied up with Indiatimes for launching Free Messaging Service (FMS). Under the facility, instead of the sender, the SMS receiver will be charged.
