Damuluri Srilatha hails from Sarvaram in Nalgonda district Suicide allegedly commited in hostel room in Guwahati NALGONDA: The news about the alleged suicide of Damuluri Srilatha, 21, an M.Tech final year student at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, in her hostel room has come as a rude shock to her family members and friends in her native village Sarvaram of Mothey mandal in Nalgonda district. “Something is fishy. She is a brilliant and brave girl. She is not the type who would commit suicide,” M. Sreenu, a relative of Srilatha, told The Hindu on Friday night. Srilatha, who had a fairly good academic record, had turned down a job offer with a computer giant after finishing her B.Tech at Anurag Engineering College at Kodad. “She is known for her brilliance. I can’t believe this news,” the girl’s aunt, residing at Nagole in Hyderabad, told this reporter over phone. A girl from Guwahati called up her father Pandu to inform that she had found Srilatha dead in her room on Thursday night. Srilatha reportedly stayed back in her room by skipping dinner. Thorough probe The victim’s family demanded that a thorough probe be ordered to ascertain the reason for her death. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
