Call to bring urological services within reach of common man

Rajahmundry: Vice-Chancellor of NTR Health University A.V. Krishnam Raju has called upon doctors to bring urological services within the reach of the common man.

Inaugurating the two-day 21st AP State Urologists’ Conference here on Saturday, he said that environment pollution and other pollutants were leading to increased number of urological cases even in rural areas.

He said that there was a need for a urologist in teaching colleges and civil hospitals in all district headquarters. Dr. Raju said that they would suggest to the government to fill the posts of urologists in all district hospitals.

Chairman of the organising committee V. Sarath Kumar, in his presidential remarks, called upon young urologists to make it a point to document every case of theirs for academic success.

He said that there were some medical colleges in the country without the department of urology.

He requested the Vice-Chancellor to bring it to the notice of the government regarding the need for more posts of urologists not only in teaching hospitals but also in the district headquarters hospitals. Dr. Kumar said that urologists had several innovative methods to curtail cost.

But the steep fall in costs that we see in the electronics industry could never be seen in the medical field, basically it works more with human resources than with machinery. In spite of this, teaching hospitals were today able to offer services of high quality at very affordable price for the end-user.

Chairman of GSL Medical College Ganni Bhaskar Rao released the souvenir of the conference. T.V. Narayana Rao, organizing secretary, and several doctors spoke on the occasion.
