Yeshwanth stars in Kendriya Vidyalaya’s win

HYDERABAD: Striker P. Yeshwanth netted four goals for Kendriya Vidyalaya (No. I, Uppal) in its 8-0 win over Dr. Zaheer Memorial School and entered the semifinals of the fourth inter-schools hockey tournament for the V. Purushotham memorial trophy at the Gymkhana Grounds on Saturday. The winner led 3-0 at the break.

Yashwanth struck in the 17th, 33rd, 51st and 57th minutes. M. Kiran Raju and Ravi Teja scored a brace to complete the tally for the winner.

In another match, Vignan Prabodananda Prashanti Niketan recorded a 5-2 win over Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (Ramchandrapuram). The teams were tied one-all at half-time.

For the winner, D. Mohan scored three goals while Sandeep and G. Vineel scored one each. V. Sai Kiran and T. Anil Singh reduced the margin for the loser.

Revathi bags double

Revathi of Don Bosco High School bagged a double, winning the junior girls’ singles and doubles titles in the third S.R.N. Mudiraj memorial inter-school table tennis championship here.

Shaibaaz to lead

Mohd. Shaibaaz Tumbi will lead Hyderabad in the All-India Poly Umrigar Trophy cricket tournament, which is to be in Mumbai from December 1.

A century by Sohail Khan (108 not out) helped Hyderabad Bottling record a convincing, nine-wicket win over HUCC in the A-Division (one-day) knock-out cricket tournament here on Saturday.

A. Sridhar Reddy emerged the gross category winner and Lt. Col. Ajay Kadian in the nett category of the ICICI Bank Masters tournament’s Hyderabad leg held at the Bison Environment Park and Training Area Golf Course in Hyderabad on Saturday.
