Harbhajan sounds confident

NEW DELHI: “We will chase down any target.” This confident declaration from Harbhajan Singh came minutes after Pakistan opener Salman Butt said “any target of over 300 in the fourth innings is a good one.”

“India has good chances of winning. We have the quality and the experience in our batting to chase down any sort of target. If the pitch plays as well as it did today, and we bat to our potential, we will win,” said Harbhajan.

Interestingly, Harbhajan was of the opinion that the pitch played better than it did on Friday. On the contrary, Salman felt the pitch had become slower and there was less bounce.

Harbhajan referred to the phase when Pakistan opened up a lead of 104 runs with eight wickets in hand and said, “At this stage, it looked like a different match. But we bounced back well. Kumble has always done well here and once again brought us back into the match.”

On the dropped catch of Misbah ul-Haq (1) by Wasim Jaffer at forward short-leg off Kumble when Pakistan was 162 for five, Harbhajan said, “it was very crucial. Given the situation, who knows, we could have bowled out the side today itself. But then such things do happen. Nobody purposely drops a catch. We should now take the chances that come our way on Sunday.” — Special Correspondent
