Kannur crushes Pathanamthitta

THALASSERY: Host Kannur crushed Pathanamthitta 10-0 to open its campaign in style in the State senior men’s hockey championship at the Municipal stadium here on Sunday.

Defending champion Thiruvananthapuram was made to work hard for its 2-0 victory by Palakkad in Pool ‘A’.

Thrissur pumped in 15 goals against Pathanamthitta and hammered Kottayam 8-0 to serve notice to host Kannur in Pool ‘C’.

The results: Pool ‘A’: Thiruvan-anthapuram bt Palakkad 2-0; Alappuzha drew with Idukki 1-1; Palakkad bt Idukki 2-0

Pool ‘B’: Kozhikode bt Kasaragod 5-2; Malappuram drew with Kollam 1-1.

Pool ‘C’: Thrissur bt Pathanamthitta 15-0; Kannur bt Pathanamthitta 10-0; Thrissur bt Kottayam 8-0; Kannur bt Kottayam 4-0.

Pool ‘D’: Ernakulam drew with Wayanad 0-0.
