KOCHI: Malabar United, Kerala’s new professional club, defeated KSEB 5-3, via the tiebreaker, in the second Dronacharya Trophy Navy Day all-Kerala football tournament at the floodlit Fort Kochi Parade Ground on Sunday. The goals were missing in the Pool ‘A’ game but with the teams being even there was plenty of action. The referee was also kept busy and four yellow cards were flashed, two to each side. There were a few misses too with Malabar United’s Jack N. Sebastian messing up a sitter in the 33rd minute. But Malabar, which is registered in Ernakulam but has its training base in Kozhikode, was on target in the tiebreaker with captain Jithesh, M.P.Zakkir, S.M.John, Kalesh and Inderjit Singh converting. For KSEB, Binesh, Prince and Shyam were successful while Oscar Yesudas failed. – Principal Correspondent © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
