NEW DELHI: Two sisters were killed in a fire that broke out in a jhuggi cluster at Srinivaspuri here on Sunday. In all, 15 jhuggis were gutted in the blaze. According to the Fire Service, the fire broke out around 3-30 p.m. and soon engulfed the jhuggi cluster. Three-year-old Saima and five-year-old Atima, daughters of Syedulla, were trapped in their jhuggi and were charged to death. An inquiry into the incident has been initiated under the area Sub-Divisional Magistrate. In another incident, a minor fire broke out on the third floor of “Paryavaran Bhawan” in South Delhi around 3-15 p.m. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
