Bangalore: Nature lovers, who have long been waiting to savour the scenic beauty of the Western Ghats while travelling by the train between Sakleshpur and Subramanya Road, are a disappointed lot. It is because the new passenger train to be flagged off by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in Mangalore on December 8 is a night service train. The 55-km ghat section stretch presents the undulated beauty of the Western Ghats if one travels during the day. The second train as announced by Mr. Prasad in the 2005 Railway Budget is a day service train between Yeshwanthpur–Mangalore via Arsikere. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
