They were caught stealing over 120 kW of power A total fine of over Rs 1 crore was imposed NEW DELHI: Enforcement teams of the power distribution company BSES have caught owners of two industries in the Capital stealing power. In the first case, Veer Singh, an industrialist, operating a mid-sized zinc plant out of a prominent dairy farm in East Delhi, was allegedly caught stealing power. In the second case, the teams nabbed Ram Rakha, also an industrialist, on charges of stealing power to run a mid-sized wire drawing plant. Cumulatively they were caught stealing over 120 kW of electricity. Veer Singh was allegedly caught stealing 45 kW of power for running his zinc plant inside the Ghazipur Dairy Farm and the enforcement team carried out a raid last December. Apenalty of over Rs.49 lakh was imposed on him. Ram Rakha was caught stealing 77 kW of power and was subsequently penalised Rs.58.39 lakh. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
