Kaushik bags honours

MANGALORE: R. Kaushik of Canara College has won the Chess Park Open rapid chess tournament, here on Sunday.

FIDE-rated Kaushik defeated top seed Adith Jagadish in the final round to take his tally to six points in as many rounds to clinch the title.

Adith of Lourdes Central School finished second with five points. Ram Mohan Bhandary (LCS) came third.

The results: Boys: U-15: 1. Nihal Manjunath 5 pts; 2. Yashas Salian 4.5; Akash, 4; U-11: 1. Shabdik Varma, SDM 4; 2. Pangal Gopalkrishna Nayak 4; 3. Adithya Pai 4.

Girls: 1. Chrisel Pais 4; 2. Andrea D ’Souza 3; 3.Annette D ’Souza, 3.
