Emmul nets winner

Bangalore: Oriental FC defeated DYSS 1-0 in the State Super division league at the Football Stadium here on Monday. Emmul Raj scored the winner in the 32nd minute.

Earlier in the A division league, Dharmaraja Union defeated AGORC 2-1. Kelio (17th) and Mahesh (27th) scored for the victor, while Raju (54th) reduced the margin.

SMVIT bags T20 title

Sir M.Visveswaraya Institute of Technology bagged the JGI T20 inter-engineering colleges cricket title, defeating the host Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College of Engineering by five wickets in the final on Monday.

After dismissing SBMJCE for 143, SMVIT reached the target in 19.4 overs losing five wickets. Mahendra slammed 51 for the winner.

The scores: SBMJCE 143 in 20 overs (Anupam Kumar 41, Rahul four for 20) lost to SMVIT 147 for five in 19.4 overs (Mahendra 51).

Dhruv, Jesai take titles

Dhruv Kumar and Jesai claimed the boys’ and girls’ singles titles respectively in the Kensri Futures under-14 inter-school tennis tournament.

Dhruv Kumar defeated Aman Saxena 6-1, 6-0, while Jesai defeated Nandini 6-1, 1-6, 7-5.

Inter-campus sports

The Karnataka Veterninary, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar, will hold its inter-campus sports meet at the UAS Campus in Hebbal here from Tuesday. The meet concludes on Thursday.

JP Morgan triumphs

J.P. Morgan from Mumbai won the Kingfisher Corporate-5s all-India inter-corporate football tournament with a 2-1 victory over Magnum of Kolkata in the final on Sunday.

Corporate teams from across India, took part in the event sponsored by Kingfisher and organised by SPT Sports. Winners from regional rounds held in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bangalore participated.

To mark the event, a celebrity football match was held. The Bangalore Celebrity team — for which Charu Sharma, Ashish Ballal, Shikha Tandon, Ayesha D’Souza, Pankaj Advani and Sandeep Somesh played — beat the Bangalore Corporate team.

Maharish Vidya Mandir triumphs

Maharishi Vidya Mandir emerged champion in the inter-school chess tournament that concluded here on Sunday. Meanwhile host Gear Inovative International School secured the runner-up slot.

Individual winners: Group I: G.R. Pranav (DPS); Group II: Sachin Jajoo (Gear IIS); Group III: D. Priyadarshini (Maharishi Vidya Mandir); Group IV: V. Srinivas (Maharishi Vidya Mandir); Group V: S. Harith (Sishya School).
