Krithigga, Dileep triumph

CHENNAI: K. Krithigga (Ashram School) and R. Dileep Kumar (Union Christian MHS School) emerged the winners in the under-7 girls’ and boys’ categories respectively in the Chennai district chess selection tournament which concluded here on Sunday.

In the under-11 boys’ section, Vasanth Ruben Varman (Krishnaswamy) was the winner and R. Manjula (St. Marian Primary School) was declared the winner in the girls’ section.

S.K. Talwar, Vice-President, Chennai District Chess Association, gave away the prizes.

Yudhveer wins

C.V. Yudhveer, with 77 gross, won the monthly medal golf competition organised by the Madars Gymkhana Club at its golf annexe. K. Kumaran (79 gross) was the runner-up.

Rafath Habib wins title

Former Asian Games snooker gold medallist Rafath Habib of Southern Railway defeated Antim Singhi 11-9 in the final of the Jhill Mill nine-ball pool tournament here on Sunday.

TNEB bags title

TNEB, Chennai, lifted the TNEB Trophy after defeating Port Trust, Tuticorin 74-58 in the final of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board Golden Jubilee State-level basketball tournament at Tuticorin on Sunday.

The results (Final): TNEB 74 (Sivakumar 36, Vincent 18) bt Port Trust, Tuticorin 58 (Rathanaraj 18, Selvakumar 13). Third place: TBA Club, Tuticorin 84 (Mariselvam 24, Jeyaseelan 20) bt TN Police 66 (Rajkumar 26, Sekar 11).
