Erode girls lift title

Erode: Riding on the brilliance of N. Ishwarya (22 pts) and Arockiya Jonit (19 pts), Erode outplayed Kancheepuram 76-21 to lift the girls’ title in the second SAI-promotion State-level basketball tournament for school children at Thindal on Tuesday.

Chennai dispatched Thiruvannamalai 71-42 to enter the final from the boys’ section. It will ill take on Dindigul, which edged out Pudukottai 59-55.

The results: Boys: Semifinals: Chennai 71 bt Thiruvannamalai 42; Dindigul 59 bt Pudukottai 55. Quarterfinals: Chennai 70 bt Coimbatore 43; Thiruvannamalai 46 bt Vellore 32; Dindigul 59 bt Kancheepuram 57; Pudukottai 75 bt Salem 70.

Girls: Final: Erode 76 (N. Ishwarya 22, Arockiya Jonit 19) bt Kancheepuram 21. Semifinals: Erode 64 bt Coimbatore 54; Kancheepuram 61 bt Chennai 49.

Football tournament

The Bishop Ambrose Trophy football tournament for boys will be held at the Christ the King Polytechnic College in Othakkalmandapam, near Coimbatore, from November 28 to December 1. The tournament is open to polytechnic colleges, high school and higher secondary schools and industrial training institutes.

NDCA league

The Canara Bank-NDCA league tournament for the Kairbetta Estates Syndicate Trophy will be held at various venues at Udhagamandalam from December 1 to 30.
