MADURAI: Leading IT services provider HCL has chosen Madurai again for training and research activities, which is considered a prelude to a wider presence in the IT Park coming up here. Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) here is among the six colleges chosen by the HCL Technologies last week for its campus engagement initiatives focusing on students and faculty. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed with the college to strengthen industry-academia partnership for the second project of HCL in Madurai. On November 15, it opened a Campus Development Centre to create skilled professionals for IT field. K. Lakshmi Narasimhan, Campus Relations Manager, HCL, told The Hindu on Wednesday that plans were afoot to set up a technology lab in Madurai and the present collaboration would focus on research activity in the area of radio frequency and electronic circuit systems. “The engagement with colleges has been taken up under the company’s ‘GO PRO brand’ (Going Professional). And, going forward, we want to enhance our collaboration with the TCE in electronic products,” he said. Mr. Narasimhan said that Madurai-focused plans of HCL would crystallise by middle of 2008 since simultaneously steps were being taken for participation in IT Park also. The Principal, V.
