COIMBATORE: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has advised farmers to continue irrigating their crops as there is scope for very less rain in the next few days.

According to a release from the university, the present weather will be conducive for downy mildew disease in grapes. Farmers are told to watch out for such incidence and take necessary control measures.

The weather based agro-advisory bulletin prepared by the Department of Agricultural Meteorology has forecast 18.7 mm of rainfall in the week starting from November 26 and ending December 2.

The maximum temperature will be 29.3 degree Celsius, while the minimum is expected to be 20.4, with wind speed at 3.5 km per hour.

Certain crops are in the vegetative stages, while some others are in the harvesting stage. Sugarcane and cotton are found in the vegetative stages, while banana is in the vegetative and maturity stages.

Tomato, grapes and perennial crops such as coconut, areca nut, cocoa and tamarind can be found in all stages. Groundnut and turmeric are in the harvesting stages.
