KARIMNAGAR: Zilla Parishad Chairman Aarepalli Mohan has called upon the local body representatives to play a responsible role in the successful implementation of the Andhra Pradesh Rural employment guarantee scheme and take up developmental works in the villages. Participating in the training programme for ZPTCs and MPPs on the implementation of APREGS programme at ZP conference hall here on Wednesday, he suggested the local body representatives to utilize the scheme to provide employment to the farm labourers and take up developmental works in the villages. He said that Karimnagar topped in the implementation of APREGS scheme in the State by taking up 36,000 works at a cost of Rs. 100 crore during the last year. District Water Management Agency project director A. Srinivas said that the APREGS funds could be utilized for repairing the irrigation tanks, desiltation of tanks, etc. He said that they had issued job cards to 1.30 lakh labourers for providing employment under the scheme. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
