BANGALORE: The Lokayukta police on Tuesday caught a Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and First Division Assistant of Indiranagar while they were allegedly accepting bribe for registration and issuing permits for eight autorickshaws. According to a press release, RTO Krishna Reddy and First Division Assistant Ramu had demanded Rs. 20,000 from Syed Samiulla. On a complaint, the Lokayukta police arrested Reddy and Ramu while they were allegedly accepting Rs. 5,000 from S. Manjunath, who was stated to be a tout. The police have registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The police arrested Manjunath and another tout Ajmat Khan and recovered from them Rs. 21,990 and Rs. 37,212 respectively, the release said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
