MANGALORE: The Vittla police on credible information intercepted a lorry at Mani junction in Bantwal taluk and seized 34 wooden logs that were being transported illegally on Tuesday. The police arrested Ummer Farooq (23), a resident of Nehru Nagar in Puttur taluk, and Aboobakkar, a resident of Elanthila village in Bantwal taluk, on charges of transporting them illegally. The lorry has been seized. The total value of property seized is worth Rs. 1.70 lakh. A case has been registered in the Vittla police station. The case was registered under the Karnataka Forest Act. Suicide casesSheshappa Gowda (75), a resident of Kukkanduru Khandige in Jalsoor village of Sullia taluk, reportedly committed suicide by hanging at his house on Tuesday. A case of has been registered in the Sullia police station. Chandrahasa Poojary (40), a resident of Ganadamajalu Navoor village in Bantwal taluk, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house. A case has been registered in the Bantwal rural police station. BurglaryBurglars reportedly broke into the house of Abdulnasir, a resident of Nedyala Mudnuru village in Bantwal taluk, on Monday.
