45 complete training

TIRUCHI: District Industries Centre (DIC) has conducted training for six batches of Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana (PMRY) beneficiaries comprising about 290 youths. They include 130 trainees seeking to foray into manufacturing activities.

The response for PMRY has increased this year by virtue of enhancement of credit limit to Rs. 5 lakh along with a subsidy component of Rs. 12,500 and bringing the scheme under the credit guarantee mechanism.

The State Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank and Punjab National Bank have evinced interest in funding the manufacturing and service ventures.

The training imparted by Tiruchi District Tiny and Small Scale Industries’ Association (TIDITSSIA) for the third batch of 45 beneficiaries concluded on Thursday.

With this, a total number of 140 beneficiaries have been trained under TIDITSSIA’s initiative. The training for business activities was for a 10-day period while for prospective industry entrepreneurs the duration was 20 days. With the objective of initiating the industry-oriented beneficiaries into manufacture of banana fibre by-products, gem cutting, garments, business process outsourcing, establishing machine shops, and taking up sericulture, the TIDITSSIA organised a motivation session on these activities roping in officials of the departments concerned and industry experts. The beneficiaries were exposed to the under-tapped market potential in these areas. Distributing certificates to the participants, Chief Manager (credit support cell), State Bank of India (Zonal Office), Tiruchi, R. Krishnan, called upon the trainees to accord primary focus to making their ventures profitable.
