Woman on morning walk dies in accident

BANGALORE: A 30-year-old beautician died when a lorry hit her while she was on her morning walk, at Manjunath Nagar near Basaveshwara Nagar on Friday.

According to the police, Maneesha left her house around 5 a.m. As she was walking on the footpath, a lorry hit her from behind.

The lorry driver lost control and hit an electricity pole before hitting Maneesha, killing her on the spot.

The police said Maneesha was running a beauty parlour for the past nine years. Her husband is employed with a software firm.

The Vijayanagar traffic police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the lorry driver.

Suicide

A 22-year-old old woman hanged herself in her house at Channamanakere Cross in Parappana Agarahara police station limits on Thursday night. According to the police, Laxmi was not happy with the marriage alliance finalised by her father, Govindraju, a police constable. She was found hanging from the ceiling fan.

The Parappana Agrahara police have registered a case.

Burglary

The house of a private company employee was burgled in KHB quarters in Tilak Nagar police station limits on Thursday. According to police, Guruprasad had gone to Chennai a week ago. When he returned on Thursday, Guruprasad found that some miscreants had entered his house and taken away cash and valuables, in all worth Rs. 25,000.

Fire

Fire broke out in an agarbathi factory in Sriramapura police station limits on Friday morning, destroyed materials worth Rs. 1 lakh.

The fire broke out following an electric short circuit. Ten fire tenders were used to put out the fire, the police said.
