BANGALORE: Lop-sided encounters marked the State ‘A’ division hockey championship at the KSHA Stadium here on Sunday. Centre of Excellence registered a big 7-2 win over Flying Hockey Club while ASC defeated BEL 3-1 and SAI ‘ B’ accounted for Postal HC 3-0. Short course swimmingKarnataka Swimming Association will conduct the State short course championship at BAC pool here from December 7 to 9. The State team for South Zone championship scheduled to be held in Bangalore from December 27 to 29, will be selected after the this meet. The KSA will also hold the State Masters (for veterans) championship at Vijayanagar pool on December 15 and 16. Trials for physically challengedA selection trials for the physically challenged swimmers will be held at BAC pool here on December 5. Swimmers who come under S-1 to S-8 categories may contact the head coach, S. Pradeep Kumar at the pool at 9 a.m. on the day of the trials. USPTR clinic beginsKinesis Sports Ltd, one of the leading tennis centres in the City, began a three-day workshop on the USPTR coaches certification and cardio tennis at its courts in Bangalore on Saturday. The workshop is being supervised by the US Professional Tennis Registry professional, Dr.Louie Cap . It is for the second year that Dr.Cap is conducting the workshop in Bangalore. The new element of this year’s workshop is cardio tennis, which is aimed for a fun filled workout on the court. “Inititally, we are aiming this programme for parents and adults, who in turn can get their kids also on the court,” said Mr. M. Krishna Kumar, Director of the Kinesis. Dr.Cap, said, “people think they have to sweat it out on court to achieve fitness and they are not cut out for tennis because they don’t have proper strokes, cardio tennis helps them get a feel good factor by helping them to just enjoy their game and at the same time, work on their fitness with specially designed drills. Clinic a big successApollo Tyres Mission 2018 Challenge’s first spot the talent clinic concluded at Nike Bhupathi Tennis Village in Bangalore on Sunday and Krishna Bhupathi called the exercise as “a most transparent and scientific way of evaluating genuine tennis talent”.
