Saheer stars in SBT’s victory

KOCHI: Asif Saheer scored twice, early in each half, as State Bank of Travancore defeated Oxygen Pharma 2-1 to win the second Dronacharya Trophy Navy Day all-Kerala football tournament at the Fort Kochi Parade Ground on Sunday.

Saheer, a regular in Kerala’s Santosh Trophy team, dribbled his way inside the box and found the net in the seventh minute to give SBT the lead.

Oxygen Pharma’s Prasool scored the equaliser with a direct corner kick in the 40th minute.

But Asif Saheer struck again with a long-ranger in the 51st minute giving SBT the trophy.

Oxygen Pharma’s Nigerian star Chikku was adjudged the tournament’s best player. — Principal Correspondent
