New Delhi: Calling it a ‘national resource,’ Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is believed to have favoured the return of spectrum from any telecom operator, who is found to be having airwaves in excess of the contractual obligation. A suggestion to this effect is understood to have been made by the Prime Minister when Communications Minister A. Raja met him on Friday night.
While no official comment could be obtained on the meeting between Mr. Raja and Dr. Singh, official sources indicated that Dr. Singh also disfavoured a suggestion for referring the issue to an empowered group of Ministers as suggested by some of his Cabinet colleagues. — PTI © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
