HYDERABAD: The annual conference of Cardiological Society of India will be held from December 5 to 9 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre here. This is the fourth occasion that the city will be hosting the event. It was held here last time in 2001. The city was selected against stiff competition from other metropolises. It was mainly because of the facilities it had developed to treat cardiology disorders in the last 15 years, said organising secretary K. Sarat Chandra and others, at a press conference on Sunday. They said some 5,000 cardiologists, including 80 international delegates, would participate in the meet. The conference would discuss modern techniques in treatment of coronary artery disease, current status of drug eluting stents, significance of epidemic of heart disease in India and recent modalities of investigations. The emphasis would be on preventive cardiology and research on the epidemic. Industry presenceThe industry involved in manufacture of equipment for cardiac imaging, cardiac pharmacology and angioplasty would make its presence. Barry H. Greenberg, president of American Society of Heart Failure would speak on the latest research in treatment of heart failure. Michael H.
