Sasikiran trails Ponomariov

NEW DELHI: K. Sasikiran lost the first classical game to former World champion Ruslan Ponomariov in the pre-quarterfinals of the World Cup chess championship at Khanty Mansiysk, Russia, on Monday.

Following the 41-move loss, Sasikiran faces a must-win situation on Tuesday, when he plays with white pieces.
