Indians shine

NEW DELHI: Indian gymnasts produced their best-ever display winning a silver and three bronze medals at the Asian junior championship in Damascus, Syria held from November 27 to December 1.

Ashish Kumar won the silver medal in the ring event in the men’s artistic gymnastics. His good show overall also helped India bag men’s team bronze medal. Ashish also finished fourth on the vault, as did Devesh Kumar on the horizontal bar. Shalu Mishra won bronze medal on the vaulting table in the women’s section as the Indian team finished with team bronze medal. On the uneven bars, Shalu finished fourth. — Principal Correspondent
