U.K. for greater ties with India: Stagg

KOLKATA: The United Kingdom believes that India’s international role will go from strength to strength. It has long supported India’s candidature for a permanent seat in the U.N. Security Council. It wants to work with India to address some of the major challenges both face, whether in Afghanistan or Myanmar, based on the shared commitment to democracy and human rights.

This was stated by High Commissioner Richard Stagg, a release issued by the British Deputy High Commission here on Tuesday said.

“In addition, India and the U.K. have direct experience of terrorism and we will continue to promote closer international cooperation in the struggle to defeat this scourge,” Mr. Stagg said.
