Raju surprises Ballal

HYDERABAD: Seventh-seeded C.B. Raju (AP) surprised the fourth seed H.D. Ballal (Karnataka) 6-2, 6-3 in the 65 years & above singles’ quarterfinal of the 12th GVK-AISTA senior nationals (veterans) tennis tournament here on Thursday.

Easy for Hyd. Bottling

Hyderabad Bottling recorded a 117-run win over HMWSSB in the A-Institution league cricket championship match here.

A-Institution league: Hyd. Bottling 281 for four (Sohail Khan 75, Rajnikanth 57, Sidhu 56) bt HMWSSB 164 (Ravi 52, Ananth five for 50).

B-Division (knock-out): Shamnagar 143 (Irfan 50, Altaf Younus five for 15) lost to Satya CC 144 for six (K. Madan 70). D-Division one-day (knock-out): RR District 220 (Bhimesh Yadav 77) bt Lucky XI 151 (Md. Ali Basith 40, Khaizer five for 26).

Sporting beats Loyola

Sporting Football Club recorded a 2-0 win over Loyola XI in the Susai memorial football tournament at Trimulgherry Village grounds here.

After a barren first-half, Sporting took the lead in the 47th minute through A. Khader. In the 65th minute, a solo effort by Salaam completed the tally for the winner.

Artillery in final

Artillery Centre scored a 3-0 win over Mohammadan Sporting to enter the final of the M.A. uddus memorial invitation hockey tournament at the Gymkhana grounds here.

The winner led 3-0 at the break.

For Artillery, centre-forward Osman Bin Abdullah struck twice, and left-out Junas Ekka completed the tally.

Easy for AOC Centre

In the other semifinal, AOC Centre defeated Nav Bharat Club 5-0 with centre-forward Ramaswamy (2), Manoj Singh, Somra Hero and L. Ramesh scoring.
