Varsity derecognises 13 study centres

BANGALORE: Bangalore University has withdrawn recognition of 13 study centres which were offering distance education courses of the Directorate of Correspondence Courses and Distance Education of the university.

An official release said the decision to withdraw recognition was taken at the meeting of the university’s Syndicate held on December 1.

The four-member sub-committee formed by the Syndicate had reported that the centres lacked infrastructure to offer distance education courses.

The Directorate had asked the centres not to enrol students for 2007-08.

The centres are: S.C.S. Institute of Higher Education, 100/1, 2nd Floor, N.R. Road, near Town Hall; Bhuvaneshwari Correspondence College, 27, Park Road, Thulasithota; Sri Janaki Education Foundation, 27, Elephant Rock Road, Jayanagar II Block; Miranda Education Society, CA 52, 6th Cross, 10th Main, HAL II Stage, Indiranagar; The Renuka College of Business Management, 80/4A, NH 4, Dasanapura, opposite Global Transports; Bangalore College and Research Institute, 334, opposite Apex Bank, HMT Main Road, 9th Main, Gokula I Phase, Mathikere; Gnanaganga English School, Yelahanka Educational Association compound; Manasa Educational Trust, 58, 2nd Floor, 5th Cross, Sampige Road, Malleswaram; Gauthama Buddha Education Trust, 193, Chamarajpet; SISA Social Welfare Services, 41, Main Road, Whitefield; Oceanic Education Society, Sri Maruthi Complex, 2nd Floor, 8th Cross, Malleswaram (all in Bangalore); J.B. Social, Economic and Educational Welfare Trust, CB Complex, Bangarpet Circle, Kolar and Hameed Sultan Education Society, Double Road, Mandya.

The Directorate urged students who had already enrolled for different courses to get directly enrolled with the Directorate by paying the required fee before December 31 (without fine) and January 15 (with a fine of Rs. 100).
