KADAPA: Yerragondapalem circle inspector Koteswar Rao and staff took CPI (Maoist) State executive member and former Nallamala division secretary Sagar alias Panduranga Reddy, remanded in Kadapa Central jail, into their custody on Saturday and took him to Markapur in Prakasam district. On the inspector’s petition for police custody of Sagar — ninth accused in a case of murder of Subbarangaiah, sarpanch of Dornala in Yerragondapalem mandal in Prakasam district in 2003 — the Markapur court permitted police to interrogate the accused in the presence of Kadapa central prison superintendent and Sagar’s advocate Srinivas Chowdary. The court reportedly specified that police could take Sagar from the jail in case of recovery of any incriminating evidence and produce him in court on December 10 before 5 p.m. Sagar confessed to have given an AK 47 and 70 cartridges to a farmer near Pamur in Prakasam district six months ago and he was being taken to Markapur for recovery of the firearm and ammunition. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
