Alleged impersonator arrested

NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old man has been arrested at Kashmere Gate here on charges of impersonation and robbery.

According to the police, Sumit Chawla of Panipat was on his way from the Old Delhi railway station to Kashmere Gate Inter-State Bus Terminus on Friday when Shaukat Ali Zafri posing as a police officer intercepted him. He told Sumit that a special checking was on in the area and checked his bag. Later Sumit discovered that Rs. 800 was missing from the bag and raised an alarm. Shaukat was arrested from the spot.The police said Shaukat was identified as a resident of Sanjay Nagar Colony in Bhopal and claimed he had taken to crime to make easy money.
