POLLACHI: Pollachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and Rotary Club of Pollachi will organis a three- day ‘Trade Show’ here beginning December 21. According to the organising committee chairman, G.D. Gopalakrishnan, the fair will be held at Ragavendra Marriage Hall, on Palakkad Road. As many as 80 firms, mostly those dealing with electronics and consumer durables, will participate. There will be entertainment programmes on all the three days. Coir productsCoir Board, Coffee Board and Coconut Board will display their products as Pollachi being a agriculture region. “We are conducting the fair for the third consecutive year now. This year traders and manufacturers from this region are participating in more numbers,” Mr. Gopalakrishnan, who is also vice-president of the PCCI, said. Concerned over the backwardness in industrial and commercial activities in and around Pollachi, the PCCI is taking efforts to promote the region as a favourite investment for corporates. “Pollachi will get prominence once the facility at Coimbatore is exhausted. Many software firms and other sectors are increasingly investing in Coimbatore. We want to promote Pollachi as a favourite destination to reside,” he added. The PCCI has roped in Saraswathi Thiyagara College, Pollachi, to prepare a document to highlight the salient features of Pollachi, under the project ‘Destination Pollachi.’ Pollution“We don’t want polluting industries. This is a town with salubrious climate. We will approach non-polluting industries and property developers,” Mr. Gopalakrishnan said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
