House pattas for ex-servicemen staying in poromboke land

PERAMBALUR: A sum of Rs.9.30 lakh has been fixed as the target for the ‘Flag Day’ collection for Perambalur district for the current year.

Stating this at a function to mark the Flag Day celebrations here on Wednesday, District Revenue Officer B. Sankar appealed to members of the public to donate liberally in the cause of the welfare of soldiers and their family members.

He said that the district administration had sanctioned assistances to the tune of Rs.4.50 lakh during the current financial year, while three others had got bank loans amounting to Rs.6.58 lakh.

Free house-site pattas would be given to ex-servicemen residing in ‘poromboke’ land for more than ten years.

The district administration would also acquire lands for distribution as house-site patta to ex-servicemen forming groups. Each group should have at least 10 members, he said.

Assistant Director of Ex-servicemen’s Welfare K. Kalyanasundaram and Special Deputy Collector (Social Security Scheme) Arumugam were among those who spoke.
