Accused boys sent to juvenile observation home

School closed for two days to condole death

GURGAON: A day after two teenaged boys allegedly shot dead their classmate inside a school here, the police on Wednesday were trying to trace the father of one of the accused. He had been charged under the Arms Act.

“The father of one of the accused who smuggled the revolver to the school has been made a co-accused in the case and booked under Section 27 of the Arms Act. He is, however, untraceable,” said a senior police officer.

Both the accused have been sent to the juvenile observation home in Faridabad.

The two boys had allegedly fired five shots at Abhishek Tyagi while he was coming down the stairs after class. One of the accused allegedly fired four shots from his father’s licensed revolver and handed over the firearm to his friend, who then fired a shot at the victim. Abhishek was declared brought dead at a nearby hospital.

One of the accused had allegedly eased out the revolver from the TV trolley kept at home and smuggled it to school in his socks.

“Murder was planned”

“Their interrogation has revealed that the murder was not done in haste but planned. The boys said that Abhishek was a bully,” said the officer.

The school has been closed for two days. The authorities said: “We have decided to keep the school closed for two days to condole the death. Also, the break would help other students to spend some time with their parents and come out of the mental trauma.”

“Not a bully”

Reacting to media reports that the victim bullied the accused and other students, the authorities said Abhishek had joined the school five months ago and was a naughty boy but not a bully. He was a good sportsman and recently won a gold medal in the 400 m race, they said.
