CHENNAI: The AIADMK general secretary, Jayalalithaa, on Thursday said prices of essential commodities had gone up after the DMK came to power. In a statement here, she said due to increase in prices, the expenditure incurred by families too had doubled. However, salaries of employees, particularly those in cooperative institutions, had not been increased. She requested the State Government to hold talks to amicably settle the demands of employees of the Anna Cooperative Spinning Mill at Andipatti in Theni district. The employees have been on strike since November 29. — Special Correspondent © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
