Akash test-fired successfully

HYDERABAD: The flight trial of the surface-to-air Akash missile was carried out successfully on Friday at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, near Balasore, Orissa as part of meeting the requirements of the Indian Air Force. According to V.K. Saraswat, Chief Controller, Defence Research and Development Organisation R&D (missiles and strategic systems), the flight trial was “successful in all respects.” He said all the parameters of the weapon system were met with “single missed distance.” The target was specially designed for “low-altitude flying” and was acquired on lease from abroad.
