Kakinada: The junior doctors of Government General Hospital (GGH) in Kakinada have announced that they were going on a mass leave in protest against the latest attack on one of their counterparts in a government hospital at Hyderabad yesterday and stated that they would relent only when the government promulgates an ordinance which makes attacks on any member of the medical fraternity, a non-bailable offence. The Government Doctors’ Association (GDA), Indian Medical Association (IMA) and AP Private Nursing-Homes Association (APPNA) expressed solidarity with them and together resolved to exert pressure on the government to take deterrent action on the perpetrators of attacks on medical professionals lest they should run away from duties, which is their current plight. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
