KURNOOL: The tragic death of Komma Chandrasekhar Reddy, research scholar on the Louisiana University campus in the United States, shocked his friends and relatives in Kurnool city.

Barely 24 hours after he made a call to his mother Meenakshamma at Veligandla in Kadapa district informing her of his completion of doctorate degree in biotechnology, the family received the news of his ghastly killing.

Bright student

Chandrasekhar Reddy was a bright student who did his schooling at Montessori and intermediate at Government Junior College B. Camp.

Later, he enrolled for B.Sc. in agriculture at Mahanandi and shifted to Hyderabad to complete his degree at the agriculture university.

Six years ago he left for the US to pursue higher education in biotechnology.

He shared his success with his mother saying he was receiving exciting job offers and was likely to shift to a new place along with his wife Kalpana any time.

The tragedy struck the family before it tasted the fruits of his hard labour.

Though the parents of Chandrasekhar Reddy hailed from Kadapa, he was born and brought up in the city.

His father Sambasiva Reddy was an employee of the Forest Department and retired as Superintendent.

Chandrasekhar Reddy was the last among the two sisters and three bothers.

His brother Srinivasulu Reddy, a cloth merchant in industrial estate, said the entire family treated his brother with love and affection.

News withheld

Chandrasekhar Reddy married Kalpana, a post-graduate in computer applications from Mahabubnagar district, in February last.

The family withheld the news of the tragedy from their father, who was a heart patient.
