‘Rayalaseema principal’ raises the hackles of TRS

Staff Reporter

NALGONDA: Activists of Telangana Rastra Samiti’s student wing, TRSV, on Saturday launched an agitation protesting the appointment of a ‘Rayalaseema teacher’ as the principal of Nagarjuna Government Degree College in the town.

Taking exception to the appointment of Vijay Kumar replacing Krishna Prasad, whose superannuation came to an end last month, as the principal, the TRSV leaders boycotted the classes.

They raised slogans in the college campus and squatted on the road in front of the college for few minutes. Later they visited the Telangana Martyrs’ memorial at the Clock Tower Centre and raised pro-Telangana slogans.

The TRSV district president Putta Kishore told reporters that appointment of Vijay Kumar hailing from Rayalaseema was not acceptable for the students. “It’s yet another violation of the GO No. 610.

Don’t we have qualified teachers to be elevated for the post?” he questioned.

The town president of the TRSV Khasim warned of continuing the agitation, if the government failed to take back the decision immediately.
