Vidit posts win

NEW DELHI: Vidit Gujarati beat P. Lokesh to lead by a point after the ninth round of the Parsvnath 21st National boys’ under-13 chess championship at the Bapu Samaj Sewa Kendra here on Thursday.

The 50-move victory helped Vidit increase his tally to 8.5 points. Ankit Rajpara, Girish Koushik and Pranav Shetty shared the second spot at 7.5 points.

The results: Ninth round: Vidit Gujarati (8.5) bt P. Lokesh (7); Ankit Rajpara (7.5) drew with Prasanna Rao (7); Girish Koushik (7.5) bt M.G. Gahan (6.5); Pranav Shetty (7.5) bt Adith Jagadish (6); N. Srinath (7) bt Manna Aubhropratim (6); P.V.S.M. Praveen Kumar (6) lost to Vishwanath Prasad (7); Shalmali Gagare ( 6.5) drew with Tejas Ravichandran (6.5); Fenil Shah (6.5) bt Kedar Umesh Vaze (5.5).

Eighth round: Gagan lost to Vidit; Prasad lost to Ankit; Lokesh bt Sayantan Das; Prasanna bt Utkal Ranjan Sahoo; Prince Bajaj lost to Pranav Shetty; Yogesh Gautam lost to Girish; R. Eswar lost to Srinath; Vaibhav drew with Fenil Shah; Harihara drew with Anurag Mhamal; Aubhropratim bt Abhilash Reddy.
