Senthil moves up

Madurai: M. Senthil of Pot Black Centre entered the semifinal round robin league of the Madurai Union Club’s 125th year district-level billiards-ranking tournament, defeating C. Moovendra Pandian of Southern Railway 150-13, 150-95, 150-82 here on Thursday.

In another match, S. Murugesan of Southern Railway beat S. Vetrivel of Pot Black Centre 150-117, 146-150, 150-110, 150-114 to enter the league.

Guthoosh of Pot Black Centre won the title in the snooker-ranking tournament defeating M.J. Rajesh Babu of Madurai Union Club 63-74, 77-74, 48-12, 58-45 in the last match of the semifinal round robin league on Wednesday night.

Guthoosh emerged champion with an all-win record. Rajesh Babu. Ended up third, while Khaja of Billiards Kingdom finished second.

Saravanan hits century

Riding on a fine century by Saravanan (102), Nehru Cricket Club carved out a 67-run victory over Agni Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-Ramanathapuram DCA league held at Ramanathapuram recently

Karthick memorial CC 119 for six in 15.5 overs (Ramu 49); National CC 90 in 15 overs (Sathish four for five) lost to Grand Slam CC 91 for two in 12.4 overs (Sathish 40 n.o.); Luminous CC 163 for eight in 25 overs (Theivendran 45) bt Nehru CC 118 in 22.4 overs; National CC 181 in 23 overs (Saravanan 72) bt K.T. Karthick memorial CC 137 in 22 overs (Ramu 43).
