Mahe to have Kendriya Vidyalaya

MAHE: Kendriya Vidyalaya will open its school here in the next academic year. The proposal to open Central School in this Union Territory enclave belonging to Puducherry State was sanctioned by the Union government.

A press release from the office of Puducherry Health Minister and Mahe MLA E. Valsaraj here on Tuesday said the Union government had already issued an order in this regard. Classes will begin for students up to Standard V in the next academic year, the release said adding that the classrooms would be arranged in temporary sheds till a new school building is constructed.

The Minister’s office informed that the Union government order said Mahe was chosen for the school, which was originally sanctioned to be built in the southern part of Sikkim. However, it had failed to establish the school after its sanctioning. The press release said senior officials of the Kendriya Vidyala Sangathan would visit Mahe in a few days to begin the the process of commencing the school. The Mahe administration had already initiated steps to acquire four acres of land at Chembra here.
