Entries were invited for the calendar; the jury zeroed in on 24 from the 84 children who participated
Special gift: Film actor Sarvar Ahuja releasing Kiddies Calendar on Tuesday. HYDERABAD: It was a time and space replete with Santas. Whining Santas, tottering Santas, dozing Santas, pallu-clinging Santas and popcorn-eating Santas; but they are all Santas. The squeak of ‘Merry Christmas’ that they delivered into the mike from a corner of Prasad’s Multiplex sounded sweeter than a Christmas carol to the ears of the enthralled audience. Taking part in the Santa Dressing Competition at the X’Mas Carnival organised jointly by Shishu Children’s Club and Jain International School on Tuesday, the children looked akin to stuffed toys in various combinations of red and white. The event was kicked off with the release of the Kiddies Calendar-2008 conceptualised and created by the organisers. The calendar displayed photographs of children aged between two and 14 in their various moods and trendiest attires. Selection process
“Entries were invited for the calendar a month-and-a-half ago and children were selected by a jury after a photo shoot. In all, 84 children participated of whom, 24 were selected for being featured in the calendar,” revealed Chief Manager-Operations of the Jain International School D.P. Chandrashekar. Nevertheless, all the participating children got a space in the calendar, 250 copies of which were distributed on the spot. Separate orders have to be placed for further copies of the calendar. ‘Zee Cinestars ki khoj’ fame Sarvar Ahuja released the calendar and distributed mementos to the participating children. The two-day event was also marked by different activities and games such as singing and dancing competitions, fashion show, well baby contest, and one minute games. The children also had a delicious challenge in the cake-eating competition organised as part of the carnival. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
