Ahbab Club in super-league

NEW DELHI: Anuj Peter’s fine placement in the 58th minute helped Ahbab Club to a stunning 1-0 victory over the strong Hindustan Club in a group ‘B’ match of the SAIL-ONGC DSA senior division football league at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Wednesday.

The victory, which helped Ahbab qualify for the super-league with seven points, was a big blow to Young Men Club in the same group as the latter was pipped on goal difference after it had tied with seven points for the last place in the group.

Indian Nationals, Garhwal Heroes, Tarun Sangha, Shastri Club and Shahdara Club from group ‘A’ along with New Delhi Heroes, Hindustan Club, IAF (New Delhi), City Club and Ahbab Club from group ‘B’ qualified for the super-league which will start on December 29. — Special Correspondent
